The Daniel Patrick Moynihan Memorial Lecture was established by Glucksman Ireland House in 2005 to commemorate the renowned Senator's contribution to political and economic affairs around the world throughout a remarkable and admired political career. The late Senator Moynihan is recognized as having been one of the foremost political thinkers of his generation and one of the leading influences on political life in the United States during the 20th century.
George Soros is the Chair of Soros Fund Management LLC. He has established a network of philanthropic organizations active in more than 50 countries around the world. These organizations are dedicated to promoting the values of democracy and an open society. Soros is the author of nine books, including most recently The Age of Fallibility. His articles and essays on politics, society, and economics regularly appear in major newspapers and magazines around the world. Frank Rich is Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times and best-selling author. His weekly penetrating essay on the intersection of culture and news helped inaugurate The Times’s expanded opinion page. Before writing his column, Mr. Rich served as chief film critic for Time magazine and as The Times’s chief drama critic, beginning in 1980. Mr. Rich is widely applauded as a lecturer and is winner of the George Polk Award; his most recent book is The Greatest Story Ever Sold: The Decline and Fall of Truth in Bush's America, just released in paperback.
